DESCRIPTION
In October 2007 NMT were approached with 12 shuttle trusses to be mobilised from various Perth-based fabrication yards to Cloud Break Mine Site Newman, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. With each truss weighing up to 95T and measuring an average of 30mL, 8mW and 5.5mH, NMT had to strategize the difficult direct movement approximately 600km inland from Port Hedland or 1,400km from Perth to Newman within a very short time frame. NMT were quick to arrange specialist haulage equipment, obtain necessary permits from local traffic, police and power authorities and book two voyages with the coastal liner service from AMC Henderson to Port Hedland. NMT was able to manage the project's various complexities and successfully mobilise all 12 trusses prior to the Christmas/New Year holiday road transport curfew as required by FMG.
